The current price of crude oil is around US$53 per barrel. This is serious in our case in Nigeria. The mouth don wide, the throat don over long, our binge is beyond comprehension. This is wahala I tell you because if it remains like this for the next 3 months then there should be a national emergency.
Forget all the grammar and statistics out there, now out of the US$53 per barrel, we need to first understand how much enters the federation account. The people in NNPC are still there. The structure is still there. The NNPC mind-set is still there I tell you. Additionally, we need to clarify the total quantity of crude exported from Nigeria. As at today, it is still up in grammatical flames. You cannot get a real full picture of the total quantity being sold. No two government agencies have same figures. Na still gist, gist, and gist.
Where do all these lead to? No money I tell you. Projects have been stalled or outrightly suspended because NNPC cannot guarantee her own counterpart funding to the Projects with the IOCs. Additionally the IOCs are seeing that the crude oil prices are getting unsustainable for projects in Nigeria environment. We Know why.. This has led to serious bleeding of Jobs. If there are no projects then there would not be much work for people. It is particularly more disheartening now because Crude oil is the main stay of our economy. We practically survive on it. During the time it was over US$110/barrel, a lot of things were non-issue because we had surplus. Now that the so called surplus has been eroded, all the” k-legs and bow-legs’’ embedded in the overall summary have been exposed. This is the real issue…
In Nigeria, Go to Exxon mobil there are no new Projects. Visit TOTAL, no new projects at all being planned. How about SPDC, it is the same thing. I wouldn’t talk about ADDAX and AGIP as everyone knows how dicey their situations are. All the projections are just as they are called: Projections. These state of affairs need to improve o. It has practically turned everyone to “prayer warrior” because People still need their Jobs in these uncertain times.
In other countries, where accountability is enthroned, the initial buzz of oil price hike in the last 5 years has made them to beef up their reserves for the raining days. In our case, we all know better. No beefing up was done in anyway as the money ended up in peoples accounts. Now we are all suffering for it. People have become billionaires on our common wealth while millions of others are still praying that “God intervenes” in the wahala as it is. The more the billions being stolen, the higher the jobless rates. This is no rocket science. It is a bare faced issue staring us all in our faces.
The President must understand that the major component of his Job is to catch thieves. Showing mercy or cuddling people who are accused of stealing or misappropriating billions by the EFCC or the Police is not part of his work scope. Nigerians have to stop ‘’attacking” EFCC for interrogating ’bare faced thieves”. There is a serious relationship between that jobless brother, sister or friend of yours with those billions being stolen by public officials and their cronies or family members. Once EFCC parades anyone on the screen please let the person prove that he is not guilty first. I understand EFCC “gragra”, but the truth is that we know our officials very well. We sab dem, forget wetin dem or dia lawyers dey yan. We no every..
