Oliseh: smile and watch your back…

2 91

Sunday Oliseh is now the coach of Super eagles..Congratulations!!! I hope he understands the complexities involved in being the coach of the Nigerian team where many things are expected but little would be available by the NFF.

He should understand that in Nigeria most of the local and community soccer pitches we used to have are now housing estates and religious institutions. They have virtually disappeared. If you used to live in surulere in the eighties, specifically Akerele area, you would remember a major local football field turned into a place of worship. It was done without a whimper thereby killing the potential football targets of that area. This is replicated in so many paces I tell you. The unfortunate thing is this: We don’t care because champions must still come out.

You can count the primary and secondary schools in Nigeria with good sport fields. Some are just buildings with nowhere for car parks. Yet the sing song is “catch them young’, how that would be achieved will be the 9th miracle of the universe. The principal cup of those days was deliberately ‘’killed” because officials felt there’s nothing in the pocket for them. We just pray that they can still revive it to the initial extent with the accompanying passion. God dey sha!!

We have a football league where the body is willing but the heart is not just able. A situation in which clubs would owe their players over 4 months without any shame, na wahala o!! A case in point is sunshine stars that is owing her players yet expect the players not to look for greener pastures somewhere else. This is a generic pattern in many of the local clubs. Unfortunately Oliseh is expected to make “messis or ronaldos” out of these ‘weather beaten players’’ in the Nigerian league.

Of course with unsettled home, we couldn’t produce superb exports to other grade A leagues in Europe. You cannot give what you do not have. We don’t have the players but we want to win the world cup o!! Oliseh must understand this mindset I tell you. We don’t have the players but we want our National team to play like Barcelona. We don’t have the players but we want to play “Jogo Bonito’’(apologies to coach Joe Erico). We nor wan kno, just go and win oliseh ooo!!

How about NFF? You have the executive council, you’ve got the technical committee, you’ve got the NFF board, and you’ve got everyone struggling for FIFA grants and government allocation. It is a mad house. To tell you a specific case: about 3 years ago, US$250000 hard cash disappeared from the NFF glass house yet no one saw how it became eagle. The money just became Ghost. Na ds kind people Oliseh must manage o!!

Oliseh should understand that we nor wan know. He must win o!! We must play solid and fantastic style of football. We nor wan know the wahala o!!

I really wish him the best….Ewolewooo!!!
